Africa Championship 2006 [14.11.2006]
The days of 26th to 29th October were in the Republic of South Africa dedicated to the biggest IPSC shooting competition of the shooting season 2006.
Such an event cannot be held without contract shooters of Česká zbrojovka who were competing in three main Divisions; i.e. Open, Standard, and Production. This contest was an open Championship of the continent of Africa and number of competitors amounted almost to 300 of the best from African shooters and also few shooters from Europe and America.
Česká zbrojovka was one of the main sponsors of this Championship and the best African shooter competing in the Production Division was awarded by our very popular CZ 75 SP-01 pistol.
This very demanding competition consisted of 25 stages for which the shooter spend at least 450 pieces of ammunition.
Ambient temperatures hovered around 50°C (122°F) and very dusty terrain was also not to the shooters advantage.
Championship did not start up to our shooters favour as the safety case containing handguns arrived not sooner than on the second day of the competition. Our shooters had to catch up in the following days with this circumstance and to shoot each day some additional stages.
At Open Division our Team was represented by Martin Kameníček.
Martin shot excellent competition. From 25 stages he won 20! and exceeded the second shooter Hubert Montgomery by 17%!
Production Division was firmly in the hands of Angus Hobdell from CZ-USA and also Angus achieved excellent results winning with 6% difference. At Standard Division we had our lady shooter Eva Turková who coped marvellously with tough competition wining 6th place among women.
