New for 2004, Remington brings you the next generation in cutting edge tactical rifles, the Model 40-XS Bolt-Action Rifle System. Based on the time tested Model 40-X action, the Model 40-XS combines legendary strength and dependability with the most advanced materials and components to bring you the ultimate tactical rifle for the 21st century. Chambered in .308 Win (1:12" Twist), the heart of the system centers around the 416 stainless steel Model 40-X 24" barreled action, coated with Remington's proprietary non-reflective black polymer coating for additional protection.
To insure stability under the harshest conditions, the action is custom bedded in a McMillan® A3 series stock with adjustable length of pull and adjustable comb. The Model 40-X trigger (externally adjustable for trigger pull weight) and a Sunny Hill heavy duty, all-steel trigger guard complete the system making the Model 40-XS the finest tactical rifle available today. Prior to leaving the Remington Custom Shop in Ilion, NY, each Model 40-XS rifle must prove capable of delivering 3/4 MOA accuracy or better.
