http://www.nightvisionplanet.com/Nikon_6x42_Matte_Nikoplex_Riflescopes_p/nikon-6508.htmNikon Inc., world renowned manufacturer of high quality optics, has introduced a new series of rifle and pistol scopes designed specifically to give hunters the brightest, clearest, highest contrast image possible in murky, overcast, inclement weather and extra-low-light hunting situations.
The new scope line is called the Nikon Monarch Series and the technical advancement that created it is the Ultra ClearCoat™ optical system.
"This new optical system is truly the next generation in quality optics for the hunter who demands the ultimate in optical and mechanical performance," said Jim D'Elia, General Manager of Nikon Sport Optics. "The UCC optical system is capable of boosting light transmission to an almost-perfect 95% level."
D'Elia pointed out that even the finest optical glass absorbs an average of .5% of transmitted light per lens element, so a 10-lens system such as Nikon's Monarch UCC 3-
9x40 absorbs a total of 5%. This type of light absorption is not correctable.
The Ultra ClearCoat system was developed in
Nikon's new 200,000 square foot optics factory in Bangkok, Thailand by Nikon design engineers. According to the scope maker, each Monarch UCC model begins with the highest grade of scope optical glass, which is ground and polished to remove surface aberrations and blemishes that could cause glare-producing diffraction. Then, Nikon carefully applies a series of its own proprietary, anti-reflective multicoating materials to each lens surface utilizing an exclusive application method. Even the outer surfaces of the objective and eyepiece lenses are coated. (Normally soft, Nikon has created a hard, durable multicoating for these outer lenses to resist scratching.)
"By incorporating higher quality anti-reflective lens coating materials and cutting edge multi-layering application techniques," D'Elia states, "Nikon is able to squeeze every bit of ambient light possible through the scope to your eye. The Monarch's near-95% light transmission means that Nikon has accomplished virtually 100% anti-reflection capability."
Nikon utilizes highly accurate, 1/4-minute deep positive click windage and elevation adjustments on the Monarch Series scopes, the only exception being the 6.5-20x44 varmint
scope which features 1/8-minute clicks. Steel-to-brass movements were chosen by Nikon for reliability and repeatability, as well as durability and longevity.
D'Elia maintains that a shooter can quickly execute and then maintain pin-point reticle adjustments on the bench or in the field, no matter how hard the recoil of the rifle or how often adjustments are made.
Recognizing that the construction of a scope can have as much to do with a hunter's success as does optical brilliance or mechanical precision, Nikon builds all Monarch UCC scopes using a strong, lightweight, one-piece main body tube for shockproof integrity, regardless of the rifle or pistol on which they're mounted.
The Monarch UCC Series consists of a 4x40 fixed power riflescope and 2-7x32, 3-9x40, 3.5-10x50, 4-12x40 AO (Adjustable Objective) and 6.5-20x44 AO variables. Nikon also offers a Monarch UCC 2x20 EER (Extended Eye Relief) pistol scope. All six riflescopes are available in either black Lustre or Matte finish. The pistol scope is offered in black Lustre or Silver finish.
As with its previous line of scopes, Nikon guarantees 1 percent or less variation in point-of-impact between highest and lowest power settings with Nikon Monarch UCC variable power scopes.
Nikon also stakes its highly regarded reputation on the fogproof, waterproof claims that it makes on the Monarch Series.
"Our impeccable track record with our previous line of scopes proves this out," said D'Elia. "We take ruggedness as seriously as we do cutting-edge optical superiority, be it in riflescopes, in cameras or camera lenses, in binoculars--- everywhere."
As is the case with most quality Nikon optical products, when all features and specifications are considered, the price of a Monarch UCC scope is very competitive.
The Monarch UCC scopes is available at quality gun shops and sporting goods stores.
